The Front is a storefront transforming downtown neighborhoods & vacant spaces into points of public pride.

By 2015 The Front hopes to serve as a major player and stakeholder in all downtown revitalization efforts. We will foster a productive and positive manifestation of Scholarship in Action and will expand to include multiple chapters working to improve their cities across the country.

The City of Syracuse is rapidly transforming through an ever increasing number of daring urban design initiatives, and The Front seeks to be a major player in this growth, as a consultant, an instigator, and an inspiration. At a recent conference organized by The Economist, Vivek Kundra, Chief Information Officer of the United States, suggested that the future “Will not belong to those with MBAs- but to those with design skill and vision.”

Within the next five years, The Front will strengthen its campus connections, becoming a major outlet for engagement for students of Architecture, Public Policy, and other design fields. At the same time, we will seek to increase our presence Downtown, sponsoring a robust dialogue between students and the University, as well as leaders and stakeholders in the City itself.
